MaryAnn: I can really see Gene Singing “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah” and I have been so blessed this season to be a member of my Kiwanis Club going on 10 years. Recently I have met a new Kiwanis member…a wonderful Christian, Billy O’Connell; who started and dedicates his life and vocation to Colette’s Children’s Home to support homeless women and their children to give them a safe place to call home, help them get work and support them emotionally until the day they can get back on their feet and enter society an independent mom with money to support her kids (they must be sober, able to work, and save 80% of their earnings until they are ready to move out). I have been working with Billy’s staff to help with a fund raiser to enable them to help more women and purchase additional real estate to house more women.
What a blessing to see a mom leave the home today and help her get some beds, linens and household needs for herself and her family….I know the Lord brought me to them and I am so grateful to be able to reach out to the community to help these women and their kids.
